It has been called a unifying factor in Nigeria. Suya has become a Nigerian national dish with different regions claiming the superiority of their recipe and methods of preparation, but similar grilled meat recipes are common in many West African countries.

Tasty Suya Recipe

Ingredients:

Bamboo or Metal Skewers (Soak Bamboo Skewers in Water for 30 Minutes to avoid burning), 1/3 Cup of Peanut Oil, Nana Foods Authentic Suya Seasoning, 1 Onion, 1 Green Bell Pepper.

Directions:

Using a sharp Chef's knife or slicing knife, slice the beef against the grain into 2 inch long and 1 inch wide pieces.

Place sliced beef in a large mixing bowl and drizzle Peanut Oil all over it.

Sprinkle 1/2 Cup of Nana Foods Suya Seasoning onto the beef. Massage and rub onto each slice of beef until it is fully and evenly coated with the Suya Seasoning.

Cover the beef with a plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 30 minutes and up to 4 hours.

Remove the beef from the refrigerator. Then working with one piece of beef at a time, thread two pieces of beef onto a skewer, one slice of Green Bell Pepper and Onion in between, then two more pieces. Continue with this pattern until you have threaded all the beef.

Ensure that the beef is bunched together, avoid leaving space in between it. Leave 2 inches of the skewer exposed at the top.

Place skewers on a grill or indoor grill. ** A grill gives the optimal flavor but an oven can be used if no grill is available.

Grill skewers on both sides until well done. Remove from grill and enjoy!
